So I downloaded the ISOs: install-x86-universal-2004.0.iso packages-i686-2004.0.iso Created the CDs...but it won't boot properly and keeps freezing on the install portion....

    Gentoo not a happy camper


    So I downloaded the ISOs:

    packages-i686-2004.0.iso

    Created the CDs...but it won't boot properly and keeps freezing on the install portion.

    Laptop, Dell inspiron 2500
    196 M of memory
    900Mhz 686

    Fedora installed smoothly, Gentoo isn't happy :]

    What do you mean "it freezes" on the installation? Gentoo installation is not automated. It should give you a command prompt. Fromt here you can install the system following the gentoo install documentation:
