    linux istallation on compaq presario

    i have a compaq pressario machine (sr11301l, intel p4,phoenix- award bios v6.00pg,256mb ram). i tried to install linux (fedora core,suse,ubuntu,mandriva10) but all in vain(pc restart every time i try to install) & with only exception to turbo linux 10 & RHL 9.
    Can any 1 help me out?

    I've put many distros on lot's of flavors of old hardware. Biggest problem I would have is the cdrom not reading a disk. Sometime I could do a complete install but it was quirky and would fail (especially with that bad fedora spawn).

    Sometimes you can burn bad iso's. Sometimes it on the receiving end.

    Do you have another CDrom drive to try it with? Once you have a succesful initial install you can pull the cd drive and install from the net.
