I couldn't even get my gentoo live CD for AMD64 to boot up, let alone installing.

It is a sempron, and came with an SATA hard drive, which is recognized as "Third channel device 0".

and then freezes. So I thought it was a problem with the SATA HDD, and I added an IDE HDD to its first IDE slot, but still getting the same thing.

Has anyone encountered such problems before? Could you please let me know how to get around it? Thanks.
