log in as root in Failsafe mode and open menu.lst file for editing in nano editor.
    Code:
    nano /boot/grub/menu.lst
delete 'vga=0x317" from kernel line under title SuSe. save file ( press Ctrl+O. Enter key and Ctrl+X). reboot.
in case it doesn't work, add "vga=normal" in SuSe's kernel line.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
