how to use make command in installing my soundcard driver?
I'm a newbie in linux, I have a disk driver for my soundcard but I dont know how to install it, my soundcard installer cd has a directory called "linux" and inside it, have various files namely : cmpci.c config.in install release.txt makefile.
somebody suggested me to use make commands, I already looked at the syntax but I just couldnt figure out how to use the command together with the files..please help me solve my problem?I need a sound for my pc

What distro do you have because the kernel already has support for that card. I use it.

look for the readme file or the install.txt file you should have it with the others file and it containes all the info u need to install the sound card driver
