Installation stucks at DriveReady process

Hi I have recently got Mandrake Linux 10.0. When I try to install it successfully boots from the CD and asks me for the Setup. Whan I confirm by pressing "Enter" it first seeks for USB devices and after that it tries to upload the installer to the virtual memory disk as on RAM. Then it stucks at this step. When I view the Kernel screen by pressing Alt+F4 I read the following lines:

hdd: command error: status=)0x51 { DriveReady Seek Complete Error}
hdd: command error: error=0x54
end_request: I/O error, dev hdd, sector 1344104
Buffer I/O error on device hdd, logical block 338527

This text pauses on the screen for about a minute then constantly repeats itself just sequentially increasing the number on the last line.

Then I con not continue to install my Linux. What can or should I do to overcome this problem? Please urgently help.
