    Ubuntu freezes on startup... :(

Hello. I just installed Ubuntu 6.10 on my system. For some reason when the Ubuntu logo appears and the progress bar fills up my computer freezes and I'm left with only the Ubuntu logo and some horizontal colored lines through the middle of my screen. I've had the same problem before with another system but the thing is is that I forgot how to fix this problem. I know it has to do something with my video card (ATI X800 Pro). I'd appreciate it if someone would help me. thanks.

yes, its a video card problem only.
install Ubuntu from Alternate Installation CD and fix Graphics after installation.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
