What is an unknown partition??PLease help fast
I have a 80gb hard disk which already has two FAt32 partitions
and a NTFS partition for my windows XP sp2.
THis is the result of sudo fdisk -l command-
Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80060424192 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9733 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

What is the 8Gb unknown partition?It is a healthy one as per disk management in windows/
Does it have something to do with windows?
can I install linux on that partition without affecting my windows xp??PLease help me.

delete this partition and install Linux in it.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

No I did not create the partition.My assembled pc was prepartitioned.Thanks a lot for all the help you have given to me.
