can't load or boot linux cd on xp machine
hi,
need help booting & loading linux onto my computer that has xp. i had no problem booting from cd on my old win2k machine but no luck with this one. the problem that i'm having is that when i boot from cd it seems to stall at "probing for scsi devices" - the cd stops spinning & nothing happens. this occurs when i try to run live cd, safe mode & video safe modes. not sure what to do - any help is appreciated thanks.

You could try linux noprobe, at the boot: screen
Insert the CD and boot it up, you'll see a screen that says,"boot:"
Just type this command
linux noprobe (hit enter)
But this is likely to not probe devices like your LAN card,Audio cards, etc.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

need help loading or booting linux
hi again,
not really sure what version of linux it is - i got the cd from a colleague & it says "pc linux 2007 final" on it. as for the computer specs:
mobo - asus m2a-vm hdmi
cpu - amd athlon 64 x2 5400+ 2.8ghz
ram - 2gig of crucial balistix pc6400 ddr2 800mhz
drives - wd 500 gig hd
wd 250 gig hd
lite-on dvd burner
once again when i try to run live cd or boot from the cd it stalls as the line "probing for scsi devices". thanks for you help.
