Booting from a Linux disk
Does anyone have a way to get a Windows machine to boot from a Red Hat 9 disk? The hard drive has Win 98 on it but will not boot due to errors or corruption. Do I need to format the hard disk in order to load Linux on it?
I cannot get my machine to see the Linux install disk. The CD spins but will not boot to the Red Hat screen. Eventually that boot times out and the machine boots Win 98, but will not finish it. The Linux disk will boot on my other Win machine.
I made a Win 98 boot disk but my computer will not boot from it either. I have tried all the boot sequences in the BIOS but nothing works.
I originally thought the Red Hat CD was bad, but as I said above, it booted on my Win XP machine.
Please help. I would like to explore the Linux world.
Thanks a lot-
