Dualboot XP + Ubuntu 8.10 help

I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop running Windows XP via a second partition with the Ubuntu Installer, but now Windows gives the 'blue screen of death' STOP: 0x0000007B when I try and boot it (including safe mode). I tried using the XP install disc to do an installation repair and it stops at the partition menu with:

74882 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi
<Setp cannot access this disk.>

Dos prompt doesn't recognize any files / folders on the HD (cant run CHKDSK), although all the files from Windows seems to be intact from within Ubuntu, which is working fine.

sudo fdisk -l gives the following:

Not sure what to do from here, any ideas? :confused:

It looks like you have two separate problems. I assume
you resized the Windows partition in order to make space
for Linux. It is rare, but occasionally data gets corrupted
during resizing, and this is why it won't boot into Windows.

The second problem is that the Windows installer won't
recognize the (presumably sata) hard drive. You will have
to research a method for loading the sata driver before
running the installer. The computer manufacturer may have
this driver, which may be booted by floppy or some such
method, to enable the installer to proceed.
