i installed slitaz on my hdd using grub 4 dos.
* i formatted hdd as fat32 and used bootlace command.
* copied grldr and menu.lst
everything works well.
but when computer starts before menu.lst its counting down from 5 seconds. its boring. is there any chance to remove.
press hot-key to boot previous MBR, any other key to start GRUB.
what should i do?
Hello and Welcome.
Just to make sure we are clear before proceeding. You want to change to boot delay so that it doesn't show grub for 5 secs?? You really need a small delay there so that you can get into the machine if things go south, which they usually do at some point. Or do you mean to change the Grub splash screen?
* in menu.lst i changed timeout parameter with 0 value. but this one doesnt effect delaying. just effecting proceed and showing menu.lst file.
actually i really need to shortened 5 seconds. But if its possible why not?
i already found the solution :)
we should use these parameters while loading mbr
Some computers allow a "POST" delay so that connected devices can warm-up or charge-up ,
and this is prior to completing BIOS boot-up code.
I use a 10 second delay in order for my USB flashdrives to warm-up and become recognized during boot-up.
You might check this in the OS "Setup" stored in the 'CMOS' memory.
The BIOS boot-up reads the 'CMOS" battery backed memory
for info on how to boot-up hour system.
That is what I am referring to.
buena suerte :)
