GRUB does not load
-> I had XP in IDE 40GB disk and i installed ubuntu in an other IDE disk
-> Everything was smooth
-> Then i removed the 40GB disk and installed a 250GB Sata on which i installed XP from scratch
-> Then GRUB stopped loading
-> Then I tried re-installing Ubuntu so that it would(should) work
-> But after two tries still i get no grub loading
-> Both times i installed grub on MBR
Any suggestions would be great help
How to configure my system to load grub if i cannot boot in Ubuntu in anyway?
( I tried changing the boot order from BIOS so that it look for the disk with Ubuntu first but it stuck doing nothing, no error message )
See if you can post a copy of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file so we can have a look to see what might be wrong. You can use a Knoppix Live-CD or some other live-cd to drill down to it to post it here, and to edit it.
Is there any chance that the problem has to do with windows being on sata?
As i was reading Nerderello's directions i didnt come aling any naming issues of sata hard drives in linux..
So, should i assume that since my hd is on sata1 the path is dev/hde?
Sata drives will be sda.
If you have one sata, and one ide, it should look like
