GRUB vs LiLo uninstall?
I had XP/Mandriva running dual boot, and just uninstalled LiLo with "lilo -u /dev/hda" and removed Mandriva with no problem. I'm thinking about installing Fedora next, but I understand it uses GRUB instead of LiLo, which apparently has no uninstall option. I know about using FIXMBR with the XP recovery console to restore the MBR, but does this work with a harddrive that has a recovery partition installed from the factory (HP)?
If the time comes when you want to get rid of Grub :( ,
Just install whatever you were going to put over the old distro.
And then grub will be gone :(
Also if you have a floppy drive, you can use a Win98 boot disk and run "fdisk /mbr"
HP restore stuff
