Help I need the right software for my asus eee pc 701 2gb
:(
Hello,
Please provide more information for this or any other future threads.
What kind of software are you looking for? Are you trying to install the OS on it? etc..
Thanks,
Srj
I've tried eeebuntu, ubuntueee, ubuntu netbook remix, ubuntu, xandros, peppermint, linuxmint.
Again please provide more information if you'd like us to help.
From the above list please tell us what happened when tried to install ubuntu and linuxmint?
Also, from what I know the 'eee pc' doesn't have an optical drive. Have you tried to install using an USB storage device?
I think what he's saying is those distros failed to install.
Though that does still beg the question as to what happened/how did they fail.
Hi i have this model asus with 4gb hard drive. I found puppy linux to be the best for these. But you have research it to find how to install/use it. Get yourself an old 2gig usb stick, head to this page, puppylinux.org
find the pupplets for special features section and choose which one to try first, download it, then find the manual link and follow a tutorial. I succeeded with "puppeeee" and "browser linux" from this site, but i think maybe even "macpup" worked which is very pretty.
The EeePC 701 2G is quite limited... Puppy Linux should work, but keep in mind that the total space from the installation, any downloads/documents/et cetera, will not be able to exceed 2 GB. However, it is possible to run an operating system such as Ubuntu from an SD card that's 8 GB or larger; this tends to be quite slow, though. Personally, I used BackTrack on the internal SSD, and Ubuntu from a 16 GB SD card.
