Hi, I installed Linux...

...on a primary partition, and Windows is on a secondary.

Now, I need to boot into Windows to make it primary, any help would be grateful :!: :)

I think Linux messed the boot record.

Windows: XP Pro
Linux: Red Hat 9 :D

Please help

IIRC windows must be on the first partition, somewhat stupid but that's how it works..

reinstall both OS's.. being sure to install XP *before* you install linux... and be sure that you don't make the XP partition NTFS because linux doesn't have full support for that filesystem yet.. (i.e. you can't write to NTFS from linux)

Um, is it possible just to uninstall Linux?

wiping linux won't put windoze on the first partition.. you have to repartition your HDD for that.. hence the reason i said reinstall both.. if you just want to go back to XP, create one large partition on your HDD and let windoze have it all.. otherwise, be prepared for a couple of days of OS installation...

So, it is a reinstall Windows job :(

That's with Wintendos 95/98/98SE/ME.
But not with XP.
I have 3 partitions of Linux followed by 2 partitions with XP.
Works fine.
Just be sure to create the partitions with fdisk first.
Then reboot with Wintendos BootCD or BootDisk.
The best thing still is to have a seperate disk for Windows and one for Linux.

Preferable the one supplied with your Linux Distro, NOT the M$ fdisk :!: :!:

Best approach for building a dual-boot system is to first install Windows XP, with a 10GB partition for XP and a X GB partition to dump programs and data on.
The rest is for Linux useage.

Thanks for the info, but I have decided just to build a Linux box and put it on my network instead. Also, I'll need to deactivate the Linux partition I made with partitionmagic 8

Any ideas?
