imac install problem
ok... i have 3 different PPC versions of linux on cd now... and they all do the same thing...
imac - green gen1
the problem is i hold the c key when powering on...
the system boots from the install cd just fine...
gets all the way to the boot: prompt and i lose the keyboard...
i have tried opensuse/ppc, debian/ppc, and crux/ppc they all have no keyboard when they boot from the cd...
any help would be much appreciated...
You have an USB keyboard?
iMac Gen 1? An iMac G3?
It seems to work ok with Debian Sarge using the "expert" install at prompt.
Still, have you tryed Ubuntu?
i should have stated rev A. imac g3 333mhz
anyway... i can't type expert at the prompt... that is the problem...
no usb keyboard support appears to be the issue...
the cd seems to boot fine, but when it gets to the prompt where you are supposed to type install... the keyboard isnt responding...
i can install darwin without any problems, but i dont want to have to build all of the components from scratch...
looks a lot like your issue.
But the "solution" seems a little too much.
Maybe you could try the latest Ubuntu Dapper Beta, I bet it got very nice PPC support:
