Installing OpenOffice 2 on vector linux

hi,

i recentlyuninstalled the 1.1.4 openoffice version that came pre installed on vector linux, in order to install the new version. so i downloaded it, burned the image to a cd but when i open the cd useing konqueror, i find 3 folders, one of them called rpms. i then open that folder and its full of what seems to be many rpm packages. first of all, i have no idea which one to chose, and secondly, when i do try to open one of them VL asks me qhat program i want to open it with. i'm still a linux newbie so i have no idea if i need a seperate installer so as to be able to intsall the entire suite in one go.

any help is appreciated

Vector is based on slackware, which uses packages, not rpms. Look for the package and go on google and search for installing packages on vector linux or slackware. That should be what you need.

its in a Tar/TGZ format, that good for vector.

Which version of Vector are you running?
The latest comes with OO.o 2.0.

You could also try

slapt-get --install openoffice

OK, if you have any version of OpenOffice it's the SOHO version of Vector.
Yeah, the tgz is the best way. In the start menu, go to System and select KPackage. Now, in the upper left hand corner there should be an open button. Open the tgz file for OOo 2, and click install. Let us know if that doesn't work.
