silly question first. Have you already got ruby? ie. did it sneak in with your distro's install?
If not, goto http://rpmfind.net
do a search on ruby and download the relevant (to your Suse 9.0 distro - such as ruby-1.8.0-31.i586.rpm) then double click on this file on your PC, in your favorite file manager, and let RPM install it for you.

i have a computer with a partitioned hard drive. One with winpro2000 and other part with suse pro 9.0. Suse linux doesnt have ruby installed in it i checked. U can tell if u have ruby installed or not by typing ruby -v into command term.

great stuff, so all you need to do is go to http://rpmfind.net and download the ruby rpm and then get rpm (Redhat Package Manager) to instal it for you.
Or you may find that it has been included on a CD on the front of a magazine, which would save you doing the download.

http://rpmfind.net is a great place to get packages from. Also, when a new version of something you already have comes out, you can usually get the update from there.
