Hello all,
This is the first post I will be posting to this forum. I have an issues which require my urgent attention.
I have a laptop with bad CDROM. I have patitoined the already installed XP using partiton magic in other to install Linux.
That has been done anyway. The issue is how to use external CDROM to use(possibly a USB) to do the installation. Any other method will be appreciated. I have tried online install without any success

Can you install over FTP? Does the lappie have a floppy disk?

FTP is a remote location. I have tried various site without success. Can I just share a CDrom of another system running windows XP and Install over the network?
If I can get a USB CDROM will it work? I have createed the boot diskette to kick off the installation.
The lap has a floppy drive

So u could install by floppies ur distro its a possibility it takes time but it's possible :lol:Quote:

I don't know which distro you intend to install, but the ones I've tried can usually only install over FTP, HTTP and NFS, not SMB.
