kubuntu installation. Does not find hard drive. cfdisk / fdisk opened read-only
I loaded kubuntu from the CD rom and started install. The installer could not find the Hard drive. Generally isn't this OS smart enough to find the drive? Even if the hd is blank. It is being seen in dmesg as /dev/hdc.
I apparently have a blank HD. There was some data on it however fdisk doesn't list any partitions.
So I would like to format it and start from scratch and install kubuntu as on the primary partition.
First, both cfdisk and fdisk report that I don't have permission to write. I have tried both sudo and using root.
Any ideas what is up?
