About almost every version of linux that I have tried to install or run on my computer always seems to freeze while scanning for USB devices during the boot process.I tried redhat(fedora core 2 and 3),yopper,and many others.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
Do you have any usb devices plugged in while the computer is booting?
If so, have you tried removing them?
Good Luck.
Will I be able to plug the USB devices back in once the computer is finished with the boot process?
Sorry for the late question I just got off work.
Ofcourse you will. What device is it, anyway?
Hope your problem gets solved. :)
Still no luck.Instead of freezing during the USB scan if freezes after the hardware configuration.Quote:

That is really weird. Do you have Windows on your computer aswell? If so, does that boot properly? I'm really confused. Have you tried reinstalling? :?
I have had this problem before as well, with Knoppix. It seemed when I had my usb keyboard and PS/2 mouse plugged in it didn't work. But if I went with usb keyboard and usb mouse it was ok, or conversely if I ran PS/2 mouse and non-usb keyboard it was ok.
I have this exact problem, ill try to remove my usb mouse, but i think its my sata drive cause it shows in windows under usb stuff even though it's internal. Seems linux isn't that great with sata drives.
