This is a quick one...
I have Xandros currently installed. During installation, i partitioned the hardrive to have three partitions, one mounted to '/', one was setup as 'swap' and the other was mounted to '/home'.
My question is this, if i wanted to reinstall the OS, or install a new OS can I keep everything in my /home directory? (provided i choose keep the current partition table)
(Im sort ofnew to linux and im trying various new distros)
Yes, you should get an option in the beginning of the installation where you can choose to your files and folders.
Yup, it is a frequently needed featurew because many dual boot users need to make a 500MB(or so) partition before windows for grub becausese of the infamous 1024 CYLINDER limit. I never needed it because I have a good motherboard, but that is why it its there. :) hope that helps.
that was great help
when installing, make sure you don't format the partion with the information :)
