pctel modem configure error

ok i got the driver pctel-0.9.6 untarred and unziped it into /usr/src and ran

You need to have your kernel source code installed. It's usually on the installation CD in a package of whatever type your system uses.

ok so if i install the kernel source is that it is that the problem solved? :-? or do a have to then do something else?

No, it means that if you install the kernel sources, then _that_ problem is solved. =)
Do that first and see if any other problems arise. Just remember to install exactly the source to the kernel you are running.
