Problem after Partitioning

I have an older Celeron 1.8 with 256mb or RAM and I wanted to install Ubuntu on it.

I used Partition Magic to make ext3 and a swap partition, and in the middle of the partition it frooze. I restarted it and while loading Windows it stops, restarts, and loads back to the BIOS and loops again.

I went into Knoppix to back-up my my ntfs partition, but it couldn't mount it.

I need the data on the drive, is their any way to save it

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. What did you do when you created the ext3 and swap partitions? (resize or in free space)
2. How far does it get in the windows boot process?

How did you try to mount it?
Have you tried to mount it from terminal:
