Removing windows disk
Hi everyone, as you can see by my post count I am rather new here.
Need some assistance if someone is willing to lend a hand.
Currently have 2 HD in my pc where WinXP is on /dev/hda and Fedora Core2 is on /dev/hdb.
I wish to remove my WinXP disk now, but the MBR is on this disk and I am not sure what will happen when this is gone.
Is it enough to edit grub.conf and state my Fedora disk to be /dev/hda?
Have made a boot floppy in case something goes sour but any advice in advance of disk removal would be greatly appreciated.
Basically, just change everything in grub.conf to point to the first hd. Then run grub on hd1 (the Fedora HD). Now you can power down and move the Fedora drive to the primary master spot. All should work fine. I would keep a liveCD (Gentoo, knoppix) around just in case, but this should work.
