Repair Win2k part
I have 3 Linux installations and 2 Win installations on the same PC. My primary HD having grub with complete menu.
Now I've changed my M/B and CPU, All others started normally except for Win2k. It stopped giving BSOD. I know this is normal for Win2k if you change the M/B. I can re-install Win2k, but will it rewrite MBR?.
How can I prevent it?
How can I recover my orginal MBR with grub?, is there a way to backup n restore grub MBR?
Please advice ... :?:
i don't know what MBR is but if it is the bootloader then no it shouldn't. the trick is to do a repair installation (after selecting the partition, repair it) and windows will reinstall itself without erasing data. :D
But repair nnever worked as usual. And that process was real nerve-breaking.
But I did clean-install and Win2k did not even notice of the GRUB :D . Win2k created the new win-boot-menu entry and carried the installation. And once things are ok, installation itself removed the previous 'win2k boot line' from menu.
And the best thing is, all thru' the process Win2k never bothered about GRUB being in MBR (Master Boot Record, of Hard Disk). :D :D :D
Thanx again for the suggestion!.
