I recently started working on linux, ubuntu version 11.04
I am having both windows and ubuntu OS, I installed ubuntu from the .ISO file without creating any swap memory or so.
I am unable to access the root folder. I am unable to open the folder. It has a cross(X) :twisted:mark appearing on it.
What should I do?
go to terminal
type in type in your password
then do a because your in the root folder when you do a sudo -i but its not really important because there is nothing in it you dont really need to look in this folder until you get really involved with linux i suggest start by exploring the filesystem through terminal just do a google search
Okay, thank you for the help.
Since you're new to the Linux way of doing things, just a word of caution.
When using root privileges to poke around in the root folder, take care.
Linux isn't as forgiving as Windows one one important thing: If you delete something, you won't get any warnings.
Using the root account gives you full access to everything, so the OS will assume that you know what you're doing.
