Seeking dual-boot advise...
Hi all, I'm new here *waves*
OK, I'll get straight to the point: In currently using Windows XP Home (SP1). I have a 180GB HDD. I've used Partition Magic to resize my NTFS (Windows) partition to 156GB, and (after first making a FAT32 partition, then scrubbing it) I've got 20GB of 'Unallocated space'. With me?
NOW, here's the question: If I were to install x distro of Linux (prefferably one with user-friendly GUI installation, but that's another topic), will this unallocated space be automatically recognised by Linux, thus allowing me to use the 20GB of unallocated space exclusively, without overriding any of my Windows files? In other words, is Partition magic a safe way to create space on your HDD to install a second OS?
I understand that the boot managers that come with good distros are preffered to Bootmagic (which I haven't installed yet btw). Any opinions on this?
Thanks.
