trouble installing Ubuntu Linux
Hello there,
I am a newbie to Linux (former windows user who wants something new). I am currently using a laptop, which has windows xp pro installed in it. I have already created a partition to install Linux (preferrably Debian or Ubuntu) using Partition Magic. When I insert the ISO CD (I have copies of Debian and Ubuntu), I get the message, "Non-system or disk error. Replace the media and press any key" My BIOS clearly indicates that my CD-ROM drive is indicated as its primary booting device. What can I do to fix this error? Can somebody give me a hand? Thank you in advance.

trouble installing Debian (or Ubuntu) Linux into my laptop
Hello Lakerdonald,
I think you might have missed my reply, so I will write it again. I received your reply couple of weeks ago saying that my ISO file might not have been burned into a CD correctly. That time, I used my Nero 5.0 to burn the ISO into the file. I am not sure exactly how to burn the ISO into the CD. Is there any specific way to obtain the ISO into the CD? Thanx in advance.

P.S. I used jigdo to download the Debian Linux, and for Ubuntu, I just downloaded without using jigdo. Also, it would be nice if you could recommend which third party software I have to use to burn the ISO file into the CD.
