Error during kernel compilitation.

Hi,

I am doing the similar kind of kernel compilation. I am trying to compile kernel 2.4.34.5 on kernel 2.6.11.FC4.After doing all the steps I found that on mkinitrd -v /boot/initrd.2.4.34.5.img 2.4.34.5 it is giving permission denied while creating files in the /tmp directory

Any ideas/suggestions why is it so and how can I get around it,

An update..I ran a

/sbin/mkinitrd -v -f /boot/initrd/2.4.21.img 2.4.21

And now I am getting this message:

umount /initrd/proc failed: 2

Any pointers, folks?

Are you logged in as root user or gained root privileges through su - while logged in as Regular User?
