Making a dedicated system
Hello,
I want to make a linux-based system that contains only shell console and my own programs.
So, I downloaded linux kernel 2.6.28 from The Linux Kernel Archives. After that , I configured and compiled it succesfully.
Then, I don't know the next step to do ? How can I make a linux CD with a shell console ? and how can I add my programs ?

Your best best is actually to use something like Slackware, Debian, or Arch as you can do very slimmed down installs with them, then just add what you want. Although, something like Linux From Scratch may interest you as well if you feel comfortable with it.

Another "build your own" that you could look at would be Rock Linux.
Hope it all goes well for you.oz

Linux From Scratch lets you do your own.
Embedded Linux From Scratch Free Electrons Embedded Linux From Scratch… in 40 minutes! will let you do it in a fraction of the space.
Gentoo does it for you, but does essentially the same thing.
