    pl2303X

    Hi,

I have 2.6.26 kernel on my debian and trying to use pl2303x device which is said to be different from 2303 and there exists patch for that but it doesn't work on previously mentioned kernel.

    any suggestions?

    tnx in advance,
    vnv.

newer kernels have pl2303x support module

If you are using a newer kernel than 2.6.20, you should have support for the pl2303x. It will show up in /var/log/messages (use editor) It normally also becomes /dev/ttyUSB0 (0-9) You need to use a program like Minicom to talk to it. It needs the proper port settings before it will work. All devices are different in what commands you can use to communicate with the device. Hope this helps.
