    what is the specifics on connecting the IPtables to the kernel?
    Where can I get info on these specifics?
    I also need specifics on how the TCP/IP stack connects to the kernel.

    I'm not sure what you mean.
    Anyway, for any competent information your first stop should be the "manufacturer" of iptables. netfilter/iptables project homepage - The netfilter.org project

    Linux Kernel Newbies - Linux Kernel Newbies seems to be a good intro, too.


    If your project is very long-termed, be aware that iptables is just about to be replaced by its successor, nftables.
