Go to The Linux Documentation Project for a lot of Linux documentation.

You can also download copies of O'Reilly's Understanding The Linux Kernel from the internet, both the 1st edition (2.4 kernel) and 3rd edition (2.6 kernel), along with a number of other useful books on Linux kernel programming.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
