    Boot Parameters Required?

I have a i7core chip on an EVGA X58 SLI LE MOBO with an EVGA GE FORCE 220 video card running Ubuntu 9.10 64. This configuration with the NVidia drivers works fine all the way up to the dual DVI for dual heads - I've been really pleased with it.

I decided to add a second EVGA GEFORCE 220 so I could go four wide with my monitors.

When I plug in the second card the system won't load the kernel.

From the GRUB menu, loading of the generic kernel halts at
    "PANIC: early exception 0e rip 10:ffffffff812d00ec error 9 cr2 ffffffffff400444"

Loading of the generic kernel in recovery mode halts at the same as above.

lspci (with one video card plugged in) gives:

I'm guessing I need to either change my BIOS settings or more probably find some wisely chosen boot parameters... I'm no expert though... can anyone tell I need to do to get the system booting with two video cards plugged in?

Also... I haven't played with Linux for quite some time... if there is a better or more appropriate forum/list for this question, please advise.
