I just installed kernel after installing newly available Mandriva 2010.1 x86_64. I was using just before kernel 2.6.34 on Mandriva 2010.0.

I noticed that the swap partition never gets used with, even after firing tens of applications. It would readily be in use with 2.6.34. Kernel has been compiled with the same .config as previous 2.6.34.

Does anyone know if there has been significant memory usage enhancements since that could explain this observation ? I rather worry that the kernel is just ignoring the swap availability.

fstab does contain an entry for the swap partition.
Running swapoff and swapon doesn't change anything.

Are there other tricks to do so as to know what's happening ?

Thanks for any input.
