failing in compiling kernel sources

I am failing in compiling the kernel sources, the error I get is:
Internal compiler error - segmentation fault.
other relevant information:
My computer is AMD64
Ubuntu 10.4, with kernel 2.6.35.4
GCC 4.4
Any ideas anyone?

Try again and pay attention where it fails, is it exactly the same place? Try a couple of times if necessary.

You are right, it fails in different places every time.
I tried again, this time I got:
crypto/khazad.c:883: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,

Hardware problem. As you probably know compiling puts good deal of stress on hardware. Most often it is bad RAM. If you have more than one module try removing them by one and see if problem goes away.
