Developing OS with Linux Kernel
Hi,
I m a student of software engineering, I m using Ubunto , red hat, linux for year,
Now i want to develop my own OS on linux kernel,
Whats the best way to start it, i have the latest linux stable kernel downloaded,
Now want to develop my own flavour, any suggestion, sources ????

i think you're going to find that building an entire linux distribution from scratch is a lot of work for a single person to accomplish
your time would probably be better served helping your distro of choice

Depends on what you are aiming for.
For example: A stripped down "firewall only" distribution surely has less packages and package dependancies than a full featured desktop OS.You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Hmm, a desktop like gnome and kde + underlying dependency packages is easily 500-600 packages to manage, maintain, organize, make work together by own patches, build rpm or deb packages from...
That is too much for one, aim lower or get a team.
Also, not to discourage you, but there are already many distributions to choose from.
So you need something special to make it attractive for others to use.

I agree,
I will manage a team from my university,
I will mostly focus On Desktop Environment and security,
I love the GNOME, so it will will help me better,
I know there are alot of OS development that are UNIX-like, i am undergraduate student so i decided to start working on It,
