Can I do put my own kernel in VmWare

    Hi All,
Can anyone please help me. I want to learn about debugging kernel using kdb. But I dont have hardware board to dump the kernel and start learning.
Im using a windows machine and i have a vmware to my linux learning stuff. Can I use the VMWare to learn the kernel stuff. If so can anyone help how to do that.

Or is there any other application in linux or windows to learn the linux porting stuff..

    Thanks
