Kernel Runtime problems
I am relatively a new linux user with redhat 7.2 installed.I downloaded the kernel 2.4.20 and wanted to upgrade the exsisting kernel.I created a custom config file with "make Xconfig" and sved it.Now when I tried to compile it it gave some error that "SMP" was undefined so I reconfigured the kernel with SMP(Symmetric multiprocessing) support. Now when I compiled it again it compiled fine and I installed all modules and configured GRUB to use the new kernel. Now when I boot with the new kernel it runs halfway through and hangs with the following line
Detecting Partitions

and stops. So what am I doing wrong?
