Update first before compiling a new kernel?
Hi,
Tried to search but can't easily find the answer, maybe this has been asked before.
Current kernel is 2.6.18, planning to compile to the latest stable. My OS displays that there is 5 updates available, should I update first before applying the new kernel or it doesn't matter?
This is my first time to compile a Kernel, wish me luck.

I would update the entire system just to be safe and then proceed with kernel update.
