Is there a huge difference between 2.6 and latest version of kernel..?

Is there a huge difference between 2.6 and current version of kernel..?? If yes please let me know because right now i am reading book "Linux kernal Development by Robert Love" which is based on kernal 2.6..?? Is it worth reading..or is there a vast difference between them?? Will i be able to understand the latest version easily by going through the old one.??

It depends. From development point of view - no difference. From hardware support and features perspective the difference is huge.
