kernel 2.4.20-28.7 & cpu load

I Have Proliant CL380
2 cpu
2Gb memory

Linuh RH 7.3
INFORMIX 9.21


Today Kernel 2.4.18-3smp was upgraded to 2.4.20-28.7smp.
(ftp://updates.redhat.com/7.3/en/os/i...-28.7.i686.rpm)
After that
if I run a lot of process on Informix cpu idle very degrade.
And I cant do something, for example I cant read file.
But if I run a lot of process under kernel 2.4.18-3smp I CAN read file
and other tasks, although cpu idle = 0.2%. Why new kernel is worse than 2.4.18-3smp ?

It's really difficult to understand your problem because it seems that your English is a bit sketchy. In the mean time, where ya from???

Compile a kernel yourself, see if you have better results. Preferrably a 2.6 kernel unless you run some sorta thing that needs to be super reliable and don't want to go to 2.6 yet.

I Cant go to kernel 2.6, because I have Informix IDS 9.21 and gcc-2.96.
I cant install Enterprise Linux or Fedora,because Informix get errors.
