how to get the package kernel-source installed???
I have got the kernel-2.4.25-040218 tar ball.
If i manually compile and install the kernel then will the kernel-source package be installed??? or i shall have to install it manually as an rpm???
The problem is that i have got this kernel installed on one of mu machines, but when i install a particular thingy it says that kernel source is required. I checked the kernel-source by:
rpm -qa kernel-source
and it says that the package kernel source is not installed. Now i have searched a lot for the kernel-source-2.4.25-040218 but couldn't find it. I have got the tar ball for this kernel. Do you think that if i compile and install the kernel again then the kernel-source will be installed or for getting the thingy work i shall have to get the kernel-source rpm anyways

What are you trying to install which requires the kernel-source?
