    I guess you already know that, but did you look in the Linux kernel documentation itself? ../kernel-version/Documentation/networking/xfrm_sync.txt

    I in fact cannot find the file you indicate in kernel version 2.6.10 specifically

    I am not sure if it is relevant for your kernel version, but here is the file from kernel version 2.6.17. This file (xfrm_sync.txt) was introduced in 2.6.17 anyway.
