Software Integration in Embedded Linux -- Skill Sets

Can anyone tell me please, what knowledge is required
to integrate a applications and kernel modules into a
existing embedded linux kernel i.e what skill sets one
need to know to carry out these task.

OK..I'm doing a course in ES that's why I know few things....that are essential.

- Assembly if not fully at least IDEA.
- Very Strong C
- H/W Knowledge and Programming - Using C and ASM
- If in OS/RTOS part...very strong KERNEL and OS Concepts and details...

so In SMS >>> Linux and C that will do the trick
