Fail to boot linux
Hi, I am a linux beginner.
I am using RedHat Linux 9 and
try to update my kernel from 2.4.20-8 to 2.4.25 version.
I compiled the kernel like below...
make menuconfig
make dep clean bzImage modules modules_install >compile.kernel.log
make install
Everything is OK without any errors.
However, I fail to reboot my machine.
The last few messages:
ds: no socket drivers loaded
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
Freeing initrd memory: 146k freed
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00
What does "Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00" mean?
What does "00:00" represent?
Would anyone suggest methods for me to handle this problem?
Please help
