Compiling Older Kernel version in Later version
Is it possible to compile a older kernel version(Ver 2.4.9 in a Ver 2.4.20-8)
and boot the system.
Also, will a patch written for the version 2.4.9 can be applied to 2.4.20-8.

Yes, it would be possible. But why?
You don't want to use old kernels because they can contain security problems, such as the ptrace flaw.
