Oops! I think you're in the wrong forum. This one is for questions about the Linux kernel. But if you want to know about the Linux file system and what all those weirdly named folders actually are, here is an article called The Linux File System Explained. You'll find that practically all Linux distributions use the same file system as Fedora.
You say you want to edit a login script. What script exactly are you referring to and why do you want to edit it?
